Review on Pair of 20oz. 🥤 Wide Body ThermoServ Foam Insulated Mugs by Jenn Arnold

Unfortunately the mug has one fatal flaw - possibly literally "fatal "

I initially gave this mug 4 stars. Unfortunately I have to downgrade it to 1 star. Unless you like drinking plastic strips. That's the problem. The cup is TOP. But the snap-on lid has one fatal(?) downside - after about a month of use, the plastic strips separate from the top and, if you can't see it, flow straight down into your stomach. The first cup that passed on I assumed because the top couldn't take the heat in the microwave. That's why I always warmed up the second cup with the lid open. Today I was surprised to find the same result - small strips of plastic were peeling off at the top. Without the top, the cup loses most of its insulating properties. IF you like the size and wide base of the mug (and I do) YOU might want to get this mug. But prepare for your coffee to cool quickly — or if you're feeling adventurous, enjoy plastic strips. A rarely mentioned advantage is the wide base and the low center of gravity. For those of us who always have a cup of coffee by our side while working on the computer, this feature is a good idea. It's damn hard to tip over. But one caveat: the packaging says it's microwaveable. Yes and no. The CUP is safe, but I don't think the lid is. I heat my coffee in the microwave and recently noticed the plastic peeling off the lid, which is the most undesirable addition to my morning coffee. Since I rarely wash my mugs and don't leave them in the sun, I can only conclude that reheating them in the microwave several times did the dirty work. There is no such wear and tear on the mug itself. The solution is a bit of a hassle, but it's doable -- remove the lid while it's heating in the microwave and then put it back on.

Pros
  • Microwave and dishwasher safe
Cons
  • Not as thick as other options
