I consider these timer garlands to be one of the great innovations in home decor! The "6 o'clock then eighteen" template is perfect for my needs. The lights go on at five when it gets dark (in winter) and off at eleven when everyone goes to bed. This is much better than turning the battery pack on and off every day. I've read complaints about the bulbs getting tangled when opened, but I didn't see this as a major issue that would put me off buying again. I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 because of the battery life. I have noticed that after three weeks of daily use they are noticeably declining and need new batteries. Since I only use them on holidays and special occasions, that's not a problem for me. I've used them indoors and outdoors (on a covered porch) with equal satisfaction. They do seem to drain the battery a bit faster outdoors in extremely cold weather. I would happily buy them again. The wire thread makes them easy to manipulate and hold in place. The lights are bright enough to be visible from the street on our door wreath, and I don't have to fiddle with extension cords.
