This wide cat scratching post comes in a box base to stop catnip spilling on the floor. It's also reversible in the box, so more life. My cat asks for catnip rubs it on his head so it should be good. He often scratches at this wide cardboard scratching post. He's only a small cat (7 pounds), but he can still drive it.
