I was looking for a wireless keyboard for work and turned down another keyboard that was on my wish list. The reason I chose this one is because the picture shown in the description looked exactly like my wired keyboard with a backlit lid and combination lock. I thought I was already used to my keyboard so why not stick with what I know. The keyboard that arrived didn't have a backlight, which was very disappointing to me. I don't understand why this isn't a standard feature, especially since it's so often intertwined and required on a wireless keyboard, but I digress. It contains instructions on how to download the lid lock screen notification, but you only see them while you are locking or unlocking. If I'm on the phone, lost, or just got back from a meeting and need to type to see if Caps Lock is on, what's the point of downloading the program? I put her to work. There is no digital lock at the peak, which is very convenient for me. Sometimes I overdid it and disabled the feature, but I didn't realize it until I looked at the screen. Now I don't have to deal with that frustration anymore. I would like to add that I want to know more than anything because I had another one that I had for many years that I liked. I notice a difference between them, but it's not big enough to worry me. I've noticed a number of complaints about the mouse, so I'll put it this way: since then, we've been dragging the mouse wheel against smooth movement. You'll notice that if your current mouse isn't like that, it just takes some getting used to. I only see this as a real inconvenience if it's your primary mouse function and you scroll a lot. I admit that I was initially very disappointed with my purchase. I took my time when choosing a new wireless keyboard and did a lot of research before ordering. I was so disappointed that the features I wanted were included and I kept putting the keyboard back in the box to return it but ended up taking it back. This happened 3 times before I finally decided I'd had enough and left the packaging material on my desk to test the keyboard/mouse for a week before making my final decision. That it actually isn't such a bad product came to the conclusion once I got over my initial frustration and realized that my little world wouldn't explode without the lidlock indicator, especially now that I no longer have the num lock frustration have. All's well that ends well!
