A little concerned after reading all the reviews about weak magnets coupled with this rather heavy phone and vertical mounting surface. But I thought Revain would help me when I was in trouble. The first attempt to use the glue already on the mount was unsuccessful. Maybe I was in a hurry and maybe there was some alcohol left on my dashboard from the cleaning. So after cleaning I waited 5 minutes, replaced the sticky pad with the second one that came in the kit and stuck it on my curved dashboard for a few minutes. As the other suggested, I didn't try to use the mount for a few days to get everything snapped in nicely, although often during that time I did press the flats around the base of the mount to make sure the glue had a good chance of catching . So far it's holding my phone very well. Even on uneven roads and with the charging cable connected, my phone doesn't give in. Even with the placement of the metal spacer on the harder inner shell of the Otterbox Defender case, where there is a softer layer between the magnet and the metal plate. Although there is a gap, the magnet holds the phone very firmly.
