Review on ๐Ÿ’ก Durable and Stylish DOT Approved LED Headlights and Fog Lights for Jeep Wrangler 97-2017 JK TJ LJ by Joshua Castillo

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Great Value: Lighting Assemblies & Accessories

Update 10/26/17: I received a request from the seller to write an honest review and in exchange for a partial refund after review. After my review which I think is mostly positive they asked for a 5 star upgrade if I wanted this return. I don't drive like that now. I'm sticking with my 4 star rating to help people form an honest opinion about lamps. Overall I'm impressed. I spent several hours looking for the best price/quality ratio and this is what I found. They were only installed a couple of weeks ago so their durability is still a big issue but I'm pretty happy with the brightness. My wife was amazed at how much easier it was to see. The light quality is very close to white with a slight bluish cast. Honestly, this is a must have for any jeep. Factory headlights simply do not meet modern standards. Pros: - Lamps are delivered quickly - Light brightness is significantly better (double feeling) - No flicker - Easy installation (about 30 minutes) - Aluminum housings are comfortable to the touch and durable Notes: When I received these lights I looked at them a lot carefully, taking notes pending review. I've been in the automotive industry for quite some time and my main job is wiring. So I feel like I have a lot of experience to weigh it up. To be honest, the only real negative that stands out at the moment are the ports. Contacts are good but exposed to the elements. If you live in areas where salt is used I suspect the connectors will corrode within a few years. Unfortunately, the ports themselves are neat and weatherproof, but the back is completely exposed. I would recommend anyone buying these lights to get some silicone sealant and fill the holes around the wires before attempting to install them. I did this. Once installed (used on a 2012 Jeep JK) removing the front grille is fairly easy for almost anyone. All you need is a flathead screwdriver and pull the top clips. Then just pull and the bottom clips will release. This revealed the original lights. Then you simply take a screwdriver with a Torx bit and remove the decorative rings on the headlights. Insert the adapter and connect the flashlight to it. Then simply thread the excess wire back into the hole and install the lantern. As many have noted, the passenger side fit is very tight and may require trimming of the factory mounting ring. I was able to push it through with some persuasion and no pruning. Put the grill back in place and you are done with the first light. Now, before you start the second one, turn on the lights and steer the car toward your garage door. Set the new light to the same level as the other factory light. Then install the second headlight and adjust in the same way. As for the fog lights, as mentioned, the factory is pretty nasty, it's hard to get at the bolts, I won't judge you if you only use three bolts. Same story with the headlights. Just make sure that once you have everything, you use some zip ties to secure the adapter and any extra cables.
