I used the same 10" plate with flat edges to evenly heat potato slices, for example. It got the usual bulge that plastic gets from frequent microwave heating. These smooth, wide plates are a good substitute. to the brim and get even heat. Haven't used one enough to see any degradation and at least there's more than one to use. I wish I had switched sooner but if you find something that works.
