Working for my 18 year old kitten

My cat is 18 years old. She is only indoors but somehow got fleas. I used Frontline Plus twice but the fleas kept getting worse. Frontline did nothing. I wanted to try the Seresto collar but it's so expensive and the reviews with pictures of neck wounds on some cats made me nervous. I was also too nervous to give my old cat a Capstar pill. I figured it wouldn't hurt to try this collar as it's cheaper and there haven't been any reports of horrible side effects. I followed my cat the night I dressed her for the first time. She never wore a collar, so I think it annoyed her that she wore something around her neck. She hid under the bed for a while, but was back to normal the next day. It has an odor, and that may have bothered her at first. I am not sure. She's wearing it for the fourth day now and I can say the fleas are dying. She is lying on a white blanket and I saw dead fleas on it after laying there. I also ordered a PT Alpine Flea and Bed Bug Carpet and Furniture Spray hoping it would keep them from getting any more fleas. I can't say whether it lasts 8 months and I don't want to leave it to her for that long anyway. I want to make sure there are no more fleas and remove it. It comes with two collars so I will have a second one if I see the fleas coming back. Overall I think it's safe/gentle enough to use on older cats if you're concerned about treating them with stronger remedies.
