We use them for hogo, pho, ramen and other soup dishes, but we have also served salads in them etc. They are very well made, no visible flaws, they are durable and stand up to the washing up, I don't want to drop them if I want to, I would say they have a better chance of surviving a fall than many of the other shells we have. The spoon is very large and uncomfortable; We prefer to use ceramic spoons. Chopsticks are shapeless; There is a minimal cone between the top and bottom, although the wood is very nice. Overall, we are delighted with this set and can recommend it.
