Very thoughtful design. I was a little skeptical about something that snaps onto a magnet, but it's very strong. The magnet doesn't actually lock it in place, but it does hold the metal plate in place, which keeps the plastic buckles from slipping against each other. An additional magnet is built into the lower buckle, which keeps the upper buckle centered when closed. A very nice click that lets you know it's totally safe as soon as you close it. Since everything is plastic and there's only a small metal plate, I don't even take it out of my pants to wash. I bought three for $12.
