Retro gaming goodness!

I needed a good workaround to get my PlayStation (240p) and PlayStation 2 (480p) gaming system to work on my Samsung 4K HDTV. The new Samsung TVs don't appear to have standard A/V (i.e. component) inputs in the form of RCA component plugs. I was skeptical about this device but I'm happy to report that it works great. There is a 720p/1080p selector and the video input has been slightly improved. I wasn't looking for a scaling solution for my retro games, but I did notice a noticeable difference using this device. vice via the standard A/V inputs. Example: The PlayStation 2 normally outputs 420p, but using this device resulted in noticeable changes to the screen. Also, I could see some improvement in the image by changing the selector from 720p to 1080p. This device doesn't improve resolution drastically or significantly, but it does seem to make things sharper and clearer, at least on HDTV (though not by much). If you want to convert RCA to HDMI or something else to make your retro games look a little better. This device can meet your needs. It definitely worked for my needs, and it was reasonably priced. I've seen devices that cost three times as much. It was a great purchase for my retro gaming and I recommend it to anyone looking to get their old systems working on new TVs. You will also need a USB port on your TV to power the device. The device comes with a USB power cable, but it is very short. Two thumbs up!

Pros
  • HDMI 1080p or 720p output support.
Cons
  • Cable is shorter than other models
