Review on 📱 UAG Folio iPad Mini (5th Gen, 2019) Case Metropolis Rugged Cobalt - Military-Grade Drop Tested Cover with Apple Pencil Holder by Girish Underwood

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Should have returned this purchase (was: can return this purchase.)

I've bought a few UAG cases for the iPad and iPhone in the past and have generally liked them She. When I decided to buy a new iPad, I ordered this item. I like most similar features and that my iDevice cases match. However, there is one feature I don't like. In fact, I'm considering returning this product. The new iPad I ordered supports Pencil. This bag has a fairly stiff fabric loop for storing a pencil (which I won't be buying). The problem is that the hinge makes it difficult to fold the front flap back so you can hold the iPad with one hand (one of the main reasons for buying a Mini). After using it for a few days, I noticed that my thumb now hurts when holding the iPad like this and it puts extra strain on my circulation. So, sore and numb thumbs now. They definitely don't cancel each other out. It's nice that they provided the bow and I'm not sure where else they could have placed it. But I think the real problem is that it's so thick and hard that it's difficult to hold the iPad with one hand. I also think these cases are worth $50 regardless of this issue. Update in about a month: I've decided to keep it hoping things might improve with use. It's not like this. I regret my purchase and cannot recommend this product to others unless what I have described is a problem for you. I've since ported it to my old Mini (4) and am using the UAG case I bought for it. They seem almost identical. The only differences I can point out are the shape of the camera cutout (both mini can use either case) and the pen loop on the new ones. I want to buy another Mini 4 UAG case or another brand. I considered lowering my rating but decided to leave it at two. For UAG, a thinner and less stiff loop would be a much better choice IMO. Has anyone comfort tested this case while holding it open and with one hand (typical Mini usage) for a period of time?
