The wall wart was defective, noisy but works

Didn't work at all when I tried it, but I threw away the whole packaging and had to deal with the hassle of returning it. Found the AC adapter not working, it works fine with the Apple adapter (I used the adapter from an old iPad). However, when I place my iPhone on the charging mat, it makes a high-pitched, static digital noise. It's fairly quiet, but loud enough that I can hear it if I put my head next to it. Fur. I'm not thrilled with the purchase but in the end I managed to do what it's supposed to.
