I used to use a dosing stick with a sponge and kept changing the sponge when it fell apart or got dirty (although I washed it in the dishwasher). This brush is great. Yes, it spends more detergent than you need for a small clean, but it's still worth it. In fact, I add some water to the dispenser so it lasts longer between refills. Plus, the brush holds the soap so you don't have to dose detergent on every item. It really cleans everything, even greasy, encrusted pans and most importantly, the brush lasts for several weeks. I wash it regularly in the dishwasher to keep it clean and it comes out almost new every time.
