I was impressed with these switches from the first out of the box. It's not like I bought a huge range of switches, but they were the best packaged and also the cheapest. When it comes to feel, these switches are really good in their stock form. For comparison I have two Gateron lines (Ink Yellow and Ink Black Silent), Kailh Box Red and Giant V3 (JWK repaints). They were smoother than almost any in standard form. But what is impressive is that even in the basic version, they had the lowest spring ping. (Maybe the JWKs were the closest.) I installed these switches on a KBDFans D65 (aluminum board with spacer) with an FR4 plate and Tai-hao cubic profile keycaps. In full standard form (both keyboard and switches) these switches have a very high pitched tone and I find them quite clicky on the bottom and top. Click, don't hit. I think the sound and feel benefit from the lubrication - although more sound than feel as they were so smooth anyway. With a very light application of 205g0 to the underside of the body and stem and oil to the springs, the sound gets a little deeper and softer (and the spring tap is gone). But I don't think these changes are as dramatic as my other derailleurs (particularly the scratchier derailleurs). I tried filming them on TX keyboard film; but the case is too tight and I could not close the switches. Suffice to say, you don't have to take them off. Note that RGB (if your board has one) *shows through*; but it will be slightly darker and tinted green. I tried to photograph examples of this from my own board. I didn't care, but if RGB is important to you, it might not be the best switch - although I still think it lights up great and I can still distinguish colors easily. Note: These use Kailh Box Switch style clips on the body - HOWEVER they are slightly narrower than my actual Kailh Box Red. I peeked to one side with an opener. Still relatively easy to do, so I don't see that as a downside. Finally, a little fun bonus: the rather incredible packaging that these switches come in can serve as a decent case lube. I've greased about thirty switches this way. I am definitely happy with these switches and would like to buy Akko switches in the future. They really are a fantastic offer.
