Updated tips and photos1. This is a great tank, I made a few mods to make it even better. You may not have to do this, but you'd like to share them and let me know if I can do it, and you can too.2. You'll need to add a heater, get one with a thermostat that you can set to the temperature your fish needs. So if your house is cold, it will heat it up to the right temperature. I made the mistake of buying a small betta heater, it didn't have a thermostat and since we don't heat our house the tank would never get hot enough. My heater also has a thermometer so I don't need to buy one.3. It is recommended to place the aquarium dry without water and decorations to see how everything works and if small changes need to be made. There is a recess on the rear wall in front of the pump part in the back of the tank, it is on the left side. The notch wasn't big enough for my heater cable, and I wanted to route the heater cable to the center of the tank so it came out between where the light was attached. I drilled a hole in the center of the back panel and in the center of the thin back plastic piece, that's the black piece that attaches to the top back of the tank. I needed these holes to properly route the heater cable through the back wall and the heater and pump cable through the back of the tank through the black brittle piece of plastic.5. I bought black tape and taped the black thin piece to the top back and sealed it left and right. This works like a loop and makes the glass plate slide back as the thin part opens up and then when you slide the glass plate back the thin black parts fall back. It was very easy and it works like a champ. The thin piece of black plastic on the back didn't lay flat on the tank because of the cords and didn't stay in place when you pushed the glass lid off. Make sure you turn the pulley on the pump all the way, mine got stuck but then turned fine to a low setting. I also used a small piece of sponge to clean the glass tanks on the part of the filter that protrudes into the tank where the water flows on the top left. I have a betta and have been told they don't like strong currents. My fish don't seem to mind either and have no problem being sucked into the inlet or going with the current. The idea with the sponge is not to completely block the flow but to restrict it a bit. This is easy to fix. I've included some photos to show you what I did, if you can drill a hole and cut the tape you can make the changes I made. This is a very nice little aquarium and most people will really like it. That. I would recommend getting a five gallon aquarium instead of the smaller ones, even if you're only planning on getting bettas they will love the space. It was easy to put together and I love the light. Unless you're trying to have live plants, the lighting is fantastic and the blue light setting makes things glow. The pump is strong but can be turned down, I was able to turn the knob all the way down and the setting was pretty low for my betta. I have a female betta, three pink zebrafish (they glow blue) and a snail, two plants, SpongeBob and Gary's house (SpongeBob's snail), I also included a marimo ball. Everything fits great, lots of space. I really like this tank and have not replaced the headlight or the pump. I have a five gallon heater, you should too. Enjoy, I think you will really enjoy this wonderful little rig.
