Turns itself off - sent a replacement that looks used and also turns itself off

Great for the sale price aside from the fact that it turns itself off. I contacted Revain support who asked me to clean the touch switch. I offered to wait a day to see if he would stay, but Revane didn't call me the next day as promised. I called them and they sent me another block. I assembled the lamp with the relevant parts from a new one (mostly the top half with all the electronics) only to find that the new switch turns off as well. The new one has a few scratches and other things that make me wonder if it's really new or if it was another unit that was returned with the same issue. Switch aside, it's great for the retail price. It's not very durable and the bulb that comes with it is rubbish. However, with the GE Relax bulb, the color and brightness is fantastic for a living room thanks to the included lampshade. Assembly is trivial if you like collecting things. Otherwise, the instructions and labeling are not very good. I could see someone struggling when they are not very intuitive about such things. I really wonder if 1-2 of the "missing parts" reviews were actually caused by poor instructions. The counter shelf is higher on one side, so you need to use two short bars on the thick side and two long bars on the thin side. The short poles are the same as those coming from above, and the long ones are the same as those coming from below. I'm willing to give it another chance, mainly because I don't want to buy a more expensive (full) one. Price) is the same now that Black Friday is over if you wish to contact me with a solution. I have experience in electronics, so I can tune the sensitivity with a schematic and instructions on how to disassemble the controller (or better send me a working one). If they can fix this problem with the switch I would give it 5 stars but what good is a lamp that randomly turns off. I'm guessing it's some kind of capacitive sensor or something, the part tolerances aren't very tight and maybe an out of spec resistor or other component is making the switch seem tighter. more sensitive than expected. The switch is not located near any power cords other than its own. I have the speaker next to the pedestal, but all the cables are routed to the floor. This is not expected to cause any interference if the switch is properly designed as the power cord is much closer to the lamp itself unless the screen is appropriate for the application or the voltage regulator for the USB ports and the controller does not work. t is well filtered. A suitable switching power supply or rectifier with sufficient capacity and diodes capable of handling sufficient current should isolate it from voltage spikes. Otherwise nobody in a place with less reliable power supply can use these. Basically, something is defective/out of tolerance, or the electronics are cheap and incompatible.

Pros
  • There's something to it
Cons
  • Minor issues
