My Tink is diabetic and I was fortunate to have a great vet who was a specialist. Most foods for diabetic cats are pure crap and their carbohydrate content far exceeds what diabetic cats should be eating. The ER gave her diabetic wet food and as soon as I took her to the specialist he told me to throw it out. He had a full breakdown of all pet foods and their carbohydrate content and told me there were many cheaper options for my diabetic child. The unusual holiday pie (just pie) was one of them. By feeding her a fancy feast, I was able to put my baby back into remission within 6 months. Her pie's carb content ranges from zero to 4, and she was only allowed 8 carbs per day. To my surprise, Hill's diabetic wet food was 8, meaning that if I gave her a can, that would be all she would eat and she would most likely starve. I believe it was also higher in sodium. I used to buy her fancy feasts here and there and I liked them, but they literally saved her life and my wallet.
