it took my husband about 20 minutes to put it together. The only problem was putting small pieces of plastic on the screws, they didn't fit very well and had to be hammered in. Otherwise they were very easy to assemble. I've had it installed for about a week now and my 18 month old twins have been handling it with no problems. It's not as easy to climb on as a regular bookshelf, but it's low enough to even reach the top "shelf". They really enjoy it and I feel like it encourages them to pay attention to their books which of course leads to more reading time :) always good.
