Hey guys I don't care what anyone says $200 is a lot for a wireless headset so I was determined to get everything I wanted from my purchase. I spent time looking at reviews and videos and narrowed my search down to 3 finalists. My priorities in this choice: 1. Sound quality. 2. Communication. 3. Portability. 4. Build quality. 5. Battery life. My finalists were: Sony WF1000X/BM1, RHA MA650 and V-ModaForza Metallo. I have experience with V-Moda as I currently use a pair of their M-100 headphones and really like the sound profile and build quality of the headphones. this. In fact, I think these are the best value headphones I've ever heard, and the Abrams Tank's closed-back design and build quality make them ideal for street warriors. And for those who don't know yet. The "V" in V-Moda is a shape of the sound profile in which the low and high frequencies are emphasized over the mids, forming a "V". but I digress - Sonys: Cool idea, but not quite ready for primetime. I liked the sound quality (especially the bass boost option in the Sony app) but the volume was severely lacking with the right earbud constantly muting when listening to music. If your priority is taking calls and you're listening to music while glued to your forehead with the source, you might be fine. I like the compact design, no cord around the neck, and the sleek aluminum charging case, but they're not for music lovers or high-intensity fans. I think the limiting factor here is the battery technology and they just don't have the power to receive or the volume. RMA: Cool design, great build quality, complete with military grade cable, stainless steel earbuds and nice UK packaging. You remind me of that classic Rolls-Royce, stuffed with Corinthian leather, sterling silver trim, and maple wood, carefully polished with llama foreskin, sitting in your driveway in the Hamptons because it won't start (why, btw, is Rolls now using BMW- Engines). But back to the RMA - classic British and basically functionless. If you're designing an exercise machine and claiming it's for exercise, don't make me wrap the cord around my ear because the headphones are too heavy. In addition, batteries at the ends of the wire base beat the rhythm of your collarbone as you run. Ignore the bruises under your eyes that you get from jumping over barriers if that's fun for you. I don't like the sound either, but that's subjective. I'm an incurable basshead and I love the V profile we discussed earlier, especially when doing activities that would normally be done with these types of bugs. The RMAs concentrate on mids and highs, the bass is suppressed. Maybe it's a stainless steel case. v mode. High speed, low resistance. You have an expressionless appearance. The earplugs are tiny. There are no ornate logos, fancy cables, or shiny details. And the packaging is just stupid. But THEY WORK. And the bass is great. Structurally, they disappear during operation. By that I mean the battery module is on the back, encased in plastic and tucked away in the collar in case you happen to hop over the hurdle in an oxford. Headphones fit in the ear, not on, over or around it. They slide easily in and out of your ears (i.e. pull out your right ear during a call and then pull it back in to continue listening to music). No cycles! The volume isn't overwhelming either, but the sound isolation from the earbud seat makes them a lot better than the other two sets. Battery life is 10 hours versus 12 hours for RMA and 2 hours for Sony (per charge). V-Moda connects easily to your device (I use iPhone and Sony WM) and phone calls are clear and uninterrupted. In fact, you get a pleasant massage from a vibrating battery pack on the back of your neck when a call comes in. It's okay if you call yourself, no one will know. So the obvious choice for me is V-Moda Forza. Metallo. It's a fine example (except for the packaging) of function over form, and a listening experience I can live with day-to-day as I commute, exercise, and write reviews. Hurrah, ah!
