Review on Exquisite Nag Champa Incense: Premium 100 Gram Pak by Satya Sai Baba by Renee Davis

Terrible, disgusting fake of the original

I hate writing negative reviews but I had to make an exception here. I have no idea how anyone could give this product more than one star unless they have something very different than the junk I received or they never used the original so they have no basis for comparison. I would give zero stars if I could. I don't know how the seller had the audacity to pass off this junk as genuine Sathya Sai Baba Nag Champa. Or maybe the delusion lies with whoever produces this stuff. All I can say is that the product I received does not come close to the original. In the package it has the overpowering smell of a heavily scented deodorant soap, only less pleasant. The scent is overly floral, almost nauseating. In fact, it's closer to those bathroom deodorant cakes you put in crappy public men's restrooms. I still have a few of the original sticks I bought about 15 years ago and the scent is still great. This new box says "Series 2018". The inscriptions on the box and seals appear to be genuine, but this is NOT the product I bought in 2003. The delicate, sweet and spicy taste of the original Nag Champa is missing. lit, so I lit the stick. It was different; it was worse. If you're looking for "incense" (I use the term loosely here) that causes a choking sensation in your throat and settles like a brick in your lungs, this material is definitely the way to go. But if you want real Nag Champa. No, I bought this new 100g box hoping to replace my dwindling supplies of the original Nag Champa. Nothing like that. It was a waste of money. I don't know why they destroyed such a great product but if you're expecting the original don't waste your money; it's not like this. UPDATE: After further research, I found that Halmaddi (a key ingredient) is becoming increasingly scarce in India, resulting in major changes to the Satya Sai Baba Nag Champa recipe from around 2005 or so. The scent may vary slightly from year to year now, but if you've discovered this incense since 2005, you might not notice a huge difference. But for those of us who knew the original, the new recipe just doesn't compare. So I went in search of another Nag Champa and tried many of them. So far, the brands closest to the original Satya Sai Baba Nag Champa have been Raj Laxmi, Shanthimalai and Vijayshree "Golden”, in that order. Raj Lakshmi is my favorite but all three are excellent. Take a closer look at Raj Lakshmi; Some sellers are overpriced. Check out incenseguru dot com whose prices are very reasonable.
