Review on ๐Ÿฑ Hello Kitty Tamagotchi 42892 by John Pound

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Adorable and tiny, limited interactions

This item doesn't look like the original Tamagotchi you might have had in the '90s, or the new Tamagotchi in the new color (and the like). It's a nano or mini Tamagotchi, so it's tiny and features/functions are limited. Unlike some other reviewers, I had no problems with mine. I pre-ordered a few months in advance and have been using it since I received it upon release. Basically there are 4 functions in the game besides the time: feeding, playing, cleaning and turning on/off light (if your tama is sleeping, they do it at 22:00) Feeding: when your tama is hungry you can feed her apple pie (supplied by Hello Kitty) and when he is sad you can offer him milk (also brought by HK) Games: You can play 2 games, piano and balloon. To be honest, I found them more complex than the ones on the Tamagotchi Ons/Meets, but maybe that's because the device is so tiny. As far as I can tell, unlike these versions, games don't affect your tam's happiness. Clean Up: When your Tama makes a mess, it will beep and you can press A to clean up. Light: As soon as he goes to sleep, you can turn off the light. (I'm not sure if leaving it enabled makes a difference.) That's it. While this is a cute device, especially if you're a Hello Kitty fan, I'm not sure if this is the best toy for a kid. bc how small it is and how limited the features are (you can get bored/frustrated quickly). Too bad you can neglect it for much longer compared to Tamagotchi On/Meets, but you can't send it to the hotel/nanny either. One thing I will say for such a small device is LOUD. It also uses dedicated batteries, although so far they seem to last longer than the AAA in the Tamagotchi Ons/Meets. I've seen people complaining about this with no instructions but that's the way it is. The paper is sandwiched between layers of cardboard in the packaging and is written in several languages. I've included several photos including one with a ruler and a large Tamagotchi He for comparison. That's about the size of the screen on one of them. (Note: I added a knitted sleeve to protect it and prevent the stickers from peeling off, and I replaced the chain with a fabric lanyard, which is not included. .) Overall, I think it's $20 not bad and I'm happy. Just make sure you know what you're getting. If you want a more interesting/attractive Tamagotchi and are a Hello Kitty fan, I highly recommend importing Sanrio Meets. It will cost a lot more but it's worth it.
