The lights are beautiful. They are the same as you see in the photos. I wanted purple but the colored ones were better for the project I was doing. I hung them on my "summer tree" in the living room. The remote isn't very sensitive, so you can't really be far or around the corner, but you don't have to be right on it either. confusing, welcome to the world of icicle lights. There's just no good way to wrap them up without them getting a little tangled. Then these lights are smaller and have plastic butterflies at the end of each strand, making them even harder to untangle. Unrolling them very carefully, follow each dangling thread to the end where the butterfly is, then you can pull it through any loops it is in. Make sure you spread it out on the floor or bed or it will keep getting tangled. Butterflies continue to cling to the threads. Remember that hanging threads are twisted wire. Plain wire is your main line and you don't need to untangle it. So yes, it takes time, but it's icicle light. There is a setting on the remote control to make the light brighter or dimmer. I really didn't notice much of a difference on the tree. There is a number on the remote control for different modes or light settings. The first one looks like it toggles them all. Number two is flickering, etc. The remote remembers what settings you had when you turned it off, so you don't have to constantly reset it. This is useful. I'm frustrated that there are two lights on my strand, a light and a butterfly next to each other, so I have a pretty big dark spot. I don't know if it's worth going back. That's the problem with LEDs, you can't change lightbulbs. I converted my Christmas tree into a festive one. I use lights to decorate it for fun for a summer tree. On it are birds, flowers, butterflies and dragonflies. These lights are perfect for that. I could get another strand to cover the tree. I love that it's a longer strand with more lights than others I've seen. It gives the room a very nice glow and I love butterflies.
