Review on Swannies Blocking Computer Glasses Orange by Heath Cullinan

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Ordered black, got tortoiseshell. Otherwise it works as advertised, a worthy product.

Not happy that I received the tortoise shell instead of the black one I ordered. They also block blue light just as effectively as UVEX Protégé but with a more stylish look. They are also optically "clearer" than UVEX. Not that UVEX distorts or is otherwise distracting, but it's noticeable. Given the huge difference in price which is around 7x at the time of writing this article, this can be forgiven. Both UVEX and Swanwicks are the only glasses I've tried that actually block blue light completely. The other two brands I bought prior to buying UVEX and Swanwicks don't work at this level. If style is not an issue, considering the price difference, UVEX is the right choice. If you don't want to look like a lab tech around the house, Swanwicks are a good choice, and their price is significantly lower than many other similarly styled blue blockers. The advantage of UVEX Protégé is that they are slightly lighter and offer more coverage than Swanwicks. Regardless, I highly recommend both Swannies and UVEX. Both are excellent. To test the effectiveness of blue light blocking, search the internet for "Blue Light Blocking Test". There are a number of websites that have good tests. Both Windows and Mac have custom monitor settings that you can use to minimize blue light. iOS and Android also have configurable blue light blocking options. I found it more convenient to use safety goggles rather than monitor settings as all blue light sources are 100% blocked - TVs, lightbulbs etc. Great product but not a fan of tortoiseshell. Style submitted in error. I don't plan on returning them because I want to use them right away.
