The 'Auto' function worked well for us in the bathrooms and in our bedroom when we get up in the middle of the night. The ability to have two different brightness levels is a very nice feature. We use dim lights in the bedroom and in one of our bathrooms brighter lights work better. We placed another one at the entrance to our washroom and now we rarely have to turn on the overhead light as that little lamp right outside the door does a really good job of providing the light we need most of the time. For anyone pondering, we use one in a plug that lays horizontally and another that we had to plug in "upside down" so the "controls" for the light were at the top since we wanted something else wanted to leave plugged into the socket. the lower socket with a larger square head, which meant we couldn't just push the button for brighter or dimmer light on this light. We are very happy with our purchase and will be ordering another set of 4 to complement what we have already received.
