Review on The Canvas Grabber - PRO Series: Top-Quality Canvas Stretching Pliers for Artists by Kim Sanchez

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Not for gripping tarps

These pliers are manufactured by Grip-On in Spain and are listed in their product catalog as pipe clamp pliers. To that end, I assume they work well. But they are unacceptable as canvas gripping tongs as advertised on Revain.uk. The clamps of the jaws on the pliers do not close tight enough without the blade slipping, snapping, or tearing. You need to modify the clips with some material e.g. B. Rubber with self-adhesive backing so they grip the canvas acceptably. But more importantly, there is no vertical support point under the clamps. This pivot point is necessary to allow the scaffolding to use the artistic framework to create the right tension. Interestingly, there is an almost identical grabber on YouTube, apparently made by Grip-On (probably on a limited test run) that has this grip and works great. However, this is not the tool advertised on Revain.uk. I contacted Grip-On to see if they have a pivot model but they never responded. I do not recommend these pliers for intended use at Revain.
