I tried three pairs of dance shoes. I ordered 11.5 and they fit like 11.5 shoes should. This is a ballroom shoe so it has a suede bottom. Definitely not an outdoor shoe. But perfect dancing shoes. It has a slight hook so you only need to thread once. We put on a strap wrapped around the bow, and then fasten it. It's very easy for my 6 year old to get on and off.
