pleasantly surprised

I think I wasn't paying attention when ordering because I was surprised to find out it was nylon when I received it. I'm used to working with hemp yarn and rougher materials when making macrame. But since I had it and needed it almost immediately, I decided to give it a try. It was the right color (I have it in white) and diameter for my purposes, so I figured I didn't have much to lose. I was pleasantly surprised by this. My biggest concern was using a material with a smoother surface (as opposed to hemp, jute, etc.) as the knots wouldn't stay tight. But these did. I could tug on my strings a little to get the knots in place, but they didn't. not loosen or loosen on their own. I was also very pleased that it doesn't twist or tangle as you work. I added some beads to the bracelet I made and had to use a twisted wire needle to thread this cord through the beads. It's not particularly stiff, and the end is a bit frayed (less than a millimeter long as I worked). But a twisted wire needle perfectly solved my problem. Anyway, it turned out to be just what I needed. Now I'm a fan of the smoother finish (I don't know if you've ever made macrame embellishments, but hemp is actually pretty spiky in embellishments - it's not!). It holds knots well and is easy to work with. And I see a lot of possibilities with all the other colors available that it doesn't twist and tangle during use.
