Fantastic belt! The style and construction is exactly what I was looking for. There is almost no smell out of the box - just a light and pleasant smell of good leather. Brown was also a suitable shade. The strap is wide but fits well in the loop strap of my Lee Riders. Unfortunately I had to return my belt as it was too long and the next smaller size was out of stock. To help other buyers, here are some approximate measurements for a 40 inch belt. Leather Thickness = Approx. 5/16" There are 5 sets of holes spaced approximately 1" apart. Total length from buckle loop to tip = 46" Length from buckle loop to first (shortest) set of holes = 38" Length from buckle loop to 5th hole and last (longest) set of holes = 42" Length from first set of holes to to belt tip = 8" length from last set of holes to tip = 4" belt with buckle. On the shortest set of holes, the buckled belt will be about 39 to 39 1/2 inches on the outside.
