High salt price

As an avid cast iron user, I have long used salt and olive oil to clean my cast iron when needed. When I saw this product on Revain I decided to give it a try even though the ingredients weren't listed. When I opened the package and looked at the product, it looked very familiar - and it should be. It was nothing more than salt and coconut oil, an old cast iron cleaner. At $13, I thought that was a steep price for salt, and I was right. For just pennies, I scooped up some kosher salt, added some olive oil, recommended cast iron cleaner, and scrubbed the pans clean. Sparkling clean without having to spend $13 on labor. Expensive things came back in the box and the very next day I gave them to the UPS store. The only good thing about the product was the speed of Revain's return process. My advice: nothing cooks like cast iron and anyone wanting to clean it should reach into the cupboard, the cheapest salt out there, add a drop of oil and brush, grab a lint free cloth and clean. Your cast iron will be perfectly clean and you'll lose pennies on the project. Fie to Caron and Duce for trying to sell plain salt at such a high price. And what does that say about Revain offering a product that doesn't list ingredients but is usually available for pennies?
