My husband and I have a heated mattress topper on the bed as our bedroom is on the opposite side of the house from the wood stove and it gets a bit chilly in the winter. The main disadvantage is that when we sleep we feel all the cables. I bought this mattress pad to heat it and give us a buffer from all the wires. I mean the rug matched our bed perfectly and was just enough to hide the cords. The deep corner pockets were just perfect and the pad didn't shift or move. The main reason I didn't rate the water resistance is that we have no reason to test as only two elderly people sleep in bed and we never eat or drink in bed. A great mattress pad for the price.
