Yes, pants. Not a backpack as reported elsewhere, but much more stressed than a belt buckle. Remove broken, failed, original. Both parts. Pass the open strap through the right (to your right) buckle. Easy Beezy. On the left side, notice the loop sewn into the belt. If necessary, clean it with a hammer on the old plastic part. As mentioned above, remove the old parts. Then loosen the screw to release the rod and pull it out. Do not throw! Insert the left strap with the loop into the clasp and reinsert the bar until it clicks into place. Before tightening the rod, suggest tightening it all the way once or twice to keep the rod from loosening over time. Use a thin screwdriver so as not to tear off the head. Hand tighten only - it's plastic. Wait for the latch to set and voila! Better than new.
