Silver Plating Spray

I used this to restore a shine to an old (pre 1973) silver plated trombone. This is by far the quickest and easiest silver polish I've ever used - just spray on and tarnish wipes away with a few wipes with a cloth, just like thick dust is wiped away with a damp cloth. My only complaint about the bottle itself is that the atomizer is cheap and crappy, it didn't work at all. I used another sprayer from a bottle I had lying around. At one point in my horn the horn had come loose from its mount and it had long since been repaired with brass instead of silver. I sprayed the stuff on, waited 45 seconds as instructed and wiped it off - and nothing happened. I repeated this about 4 times and nothing happened. I was a bit disappointed so kept polishing and polishing the rest of the horn and then noticed that the part of the horn got lighter after polishing. After much polishing, the brass turned silver. I'm talking about a strong, hard buff, enough to rip through the denim I was using and it lasted almost an hour. You have to be a bit rough with that. But it worked in the end, and it's definitely not just pure brass, it's silver. I was amazed that it actually worked, but I wouldn't say it was easy. Based on this experience, I am very skeptical that this material can be used to add a silver color to small or fragile items. too silvery. This may be due to surface preparation. There was no indication of surface preparation on the packaging.
