I seem to change my irons every few years. I don't know why they don't last long, I'm not particularly picky about them. I've tried many brands at different prices over the years. I have to say that after a few weeks with Hamilton Beach I am delighted! What a great iron at an incredible price! It's heavy so you don't have to press hard to get a good fold, but not so heavy that it's unwieldy. It has a large water tank to allow steam to flow from shirt to shirt. The retractable cord works flawlessly, despite what other reviewers have mentioned. Just hold the end to guide it inside as you press the button - it's that simple. I know people don't iron clothes anymore, but for us purists who like clothes ironed nicely, this is the one Winner!
