This is a good economical flashlight for nano aquarium. I use it on spare 10 gallon soft corals. First the pros - the performance is very good for such a compact flashlight. The case is thin and sleek, and even has cable guides under the legs for the cable. Delivery was quick and the device was well packaged. So far it's going pretty cool. No problem with the timer. The only downside is that this light is very blue, towards the end of 20K. I read the reviews and knew it might be too blue for my liking and I find it, but the price was right. The picture shows a 1:1 ratio, which is NOT true. This is a 2:1 ratio. The good thing about the color temperature is that even the garbage corals really stand out, but to be honest I find them too blue. This explains the lack of a star. No, this light does not have a switch, but that is not a problem. Yes, you need to modify the strut tank. I just took a razor blade and snipped some plastic off the inside edge of the tank. It lasted 3 minutes and the light came on. Time will tell how my corals perform, it's really just a little trash can for overflowing corals and pests that I no longer want to see on my display. The corals are looking great today. If this light was for a display I really care about, I would return it based on the color temperature. Some people love this 20k look, so if you like it, go for it. If you opted for two wave points instead of one display, I'd buy the second one in cool white to balance things out.
