To tell the truth, I hesitated to order this item because all the complaints about the security guards turned to mush. But if you read and re-read the instructions before you start and use your common sense, it's very easy. I have also attached many product photos for your reference. First let me say that the packaging says there are 3 sizes. In my opinion this is wrong. That's what you get. (1) Small Normal Guardian, (1) Large Normal Guardian, and (2) Large Heavy Guardian. Three of the 4 guards are the same size and there are no sturdy guards for the small nipples (but after molding this wasn't a problem). My mouth, the little guard felt good. The heavy form hurt me and seemed very clumsy, which made me vomit easily. I forgo any cutting/adjusting to see how everything would feel after the molding process. We continue the molding process. Normal and heavy shrouds give different dive times to make them softer, so make sure you're looking at the correct instructions for your form. It says boil the water THEN remove from heat and let sit for 1 minute. That's the problem. We have different interpretations of what cooking is. I turned off the heat a bit after a tiny bubble appeared on the side of the pot as the little bubbles started to rise. I definitely haven't even come close to a full, bubbling boil. I set a timer for 60 seconds. Then I loaded the normal little guard first and started an 18 second timer. I watched closely and after 16 seconds the protection started to curl a bit so I immediately removed it on a flat paper towel. Waited 3 seconds, put it in his mouth, put his thumbs over his teeth, sucked as suggested, and continued sucking, pressing his tongue to his teeth and roof of his mouth. I reheated the water to the same boiling point as the first time and followed exactly the same instructions for one of the heavy Wardens, but let it boil for 19 seconds, removed at the same slight pivot and shaped the same as the first time. Both protectors fit perfectly and feel very comfortable! Didn't have to cut at all. I have yet to try sleeping with a Warden, but will be back with an update in a few weeks IF I see any signs of wear from overnight grinding. So far I am very happy with this purchase.
