Review on Dermablend Insta Grip Jelly Primer Makeup: Unleash Your Makeup's Full Potential! by Heather Artis

The secret is in the texture!

Last week I found myself at a stalemate when, during a large morning cocktail party (my first face-to-face meeting with co-workers since we're all working remotely), I realized that all my makeup had dried up and expired at this Months of not wearing it because of the pandemic! I needed all the new basics, and FAST! Only after the criterion "it can arrive between 2 and 6 p.m. today" did I desperately search for a basis, among other things! The only guys I could find that would get there on time are drugstore brands for $3.99, ugh. My favorite foundations are from Bobbi Brown or Kevyn Aucoin! I HATE spending money on drugstore foundations that make my skin look awful. But while searching I came across this primer. Knowing that Dermablend is perfect for covering up even the darkest of tattoos, I read on. The idea that it had the word jelly in its name intrigued me. My current foundation (from Benefit - I won a raffle and I have 35 tubes of this stuff!) was definitely not gelatinous; It had the same consistency as most liquid foundations, and while it felt silky, I never found it particularly helpful for improving my foundation's application or look. Also, the idea of a "sticky texture” was totally new to me…DID I WANT a primer that was silky and slippery like Benefit? Obviously not! Because this foundation did INCREDIBLE THINGS to my makeup that night, even though I was stuck with a $3.99 bottle of L'Oreal Infallible Foundation (luckily I picked the right shade!). Once I applied it kept a separate undercoat for the foundation to stick to! Not only did she stay still over finger foods and cocktails, she survived my tendency to touch my face too often! Application tip: I'm used to just applying the product directly to my face to spread it out (like moisturizer and the last foundation I used) so I don't waste the product by scooping it off my palms/long fingers apply to my face with my fingertips before blending. but DO NOT do this with this material - the jelly is too heavy and it will drip and run off your face faster than you can catch it! And when they say start at the bottom center and work your way up and out, they mean it - it's so thick it's not easy to spread. If you apply it to the center of your forehead or cheeks, it will be much more difficult to spread evenly. (I'll add a photo with and without primer as soon as I get it!)
