Review on πŸ”Œ SuperSpeed USB 3.0 Extension Cable - 5ft - Desktop - A to A M/F - Black (USB3SEXT5DSK, Blue) by Adam Nikolz

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The 3.0 port is NOT too narrow. StarTech marks can be removed with acetone.

Flavor 3.0 purchased. The port is NOT sealed. Just in case I got tight, I also bought a QIBOX 90-degree USB 3.0 adapter plug that I could leave permanently connected to the StarTech device. The right angle plug is oriented with its socket pointing directly into the StarTech device, allowing for easy access to my flash drive and making it easy to see the USB connector orientation from the female side. But again, the StarTech fork is loose, so I threw the angled fork in a desk drawer just in case someone decides to use it for that purpose. Some reviewers complained about StarTech.com's ugly white labeling. Embossed on the left. It came off easily with a little rubbing with a "magic eraser" soaked in acetone (nail polish remover). Some reviewers have complained that it tips on its side due to the weight of the wire. Mine too. I just twisted the wire in the opposite direction a bit to straighten out the kinks that caused this. and now the weight of the base ensures it sits perfectly flat. Some reviewers complained that there was nothing on the bottom of the unit to protect the furniture or prevent it from sliding. Mine was just a little slippery. However, I glued 11 tiny felt circles that are sold at hardware stores and pharmacies in there to put on the underside of things to protect the furniture. Now it slides easily but stays right where I put it. Great. Oh, by the way, this StarTech device actually works like a charm when plugged into an available port on the back of my desktop computer. I no longer have to open the closet doors that contain my computer just to access it with a flash drive. or use it as a charging port for some of my other devices. I spent a few hours looking at all the different types of these USB extenders that Revain had to offer and decided this StarTech unit was the best. At the moment I still think so.
