My basement has hot water heating which is great but the overflow from the system has flooded our basement several times as it only has a false drain which is about 15cm long. Water from the house flows overhead into the basement, so there's no easy way to fix a boiler overflow. The first solution was to add battery powered water sensors. This one informed us about the next overflow but a bit too late to deal with the flood. Adding something like the basement pump used in Midwestern basements would be expensive and would require a lot of labor and materials. Pig's approach is great as it provides a solution to catch most of the overflow water and we still use the water sensor. It has bothered me in the past that if for some reason a boiler overflow problem arose while we were away, we would still return home to a flooded basement. The solution for pigs agrees with the stated absorbance values, since of course I had to test the product. The blades that come with the cylindrical scrapers do the same. I tested a six height stack and all of the water in my test bath was absorbed even though only the bottom two layers were in direct contact with the water table. To me, this is a simple and attractive solution to a problem that has been bugging me for years. Thanks for the innovative product.
