I contemplated it for a considerable amount of time, much like everyone else did, before asking the question, "Which is better for the first Canon 550d or Nikon d3100 DSLR?" I am aware of the benefits that come with using the d3100. To begin, the color reproduction is excellent, which is very important given that all of my close friends are obsessed with photography. You can obtain good images at an iso of 1600 or even 3200 with this camera; it handles noise quite well. Being a RAW photographer, I was very aware of this loss. Some also remark that it is unfortunate that the carcass (screwdriver) does not have a motor; however, you should not be concerned about this because there is now a vast range of lenses that contain an AF-S motor, and the vast majority of newly manufactured lenses include a focus motor. In general, the camera has earned my complete and utter satisfaction; I can say that because it lived up to all of my anticipations. If I make any changes to it, they will only apply to full-frame cameras.
