works great with both long haired and short haired dogs, they all hate regular dog brushes but will tolerate or love them! It's very easy to pull out a lot of old fur/winter coat with it! The only downside is that the handles slide in two different directions and if it weren't for the tape holding the two ends together it would keep popping out. I notice that one handle keeps wanting to slide up while the other goes down, causing constant readjustment for comfortable handling.
