I've been using the Backsaver wallet for almost 20 years now and probably the fourth. They offer you the most compact way to carry your cards and cash (notes only), and they are extremely convenient and durable. The only compromise is to keep receipts or other small items that you can keep in your wallet. For receipts, emergency money, picks, etc. I carry a small leather pouch with a zipper like this very well for me.
