I just surf the web or watch videos and it works fine. The backlight doesn't bleed on the edges, which is nice, and the colors are good compared to my super-cheap old monitor. I don't know enough to comment on an update and the like. Shortly after purchase (but long enough to get out of Amazon's returns window), the pixel line in the center of the screen turned yellow. The HDMI connector faces down and is low enough that a rigid HDMI cable will have trouble aligning the connector properly unless the cable is hanging from your desk. This is because the port is free enough that any movement of the monitor could result in a loss of channel. Neither was a problem with my old cheap random Chinese monitor which has served me well for over 4 years. would not recommend
