This is the perfect size for our custom cakes but our cake recipe is so wet they are sticking a little to the bottom. You don't need to spray silicone, but we've had more success applying a small amount of cooking spray to the bottom -- be careful when spraying areas without batter, as the spray will stick to the silicone. and leaves an ugly residue that is VERY difficult (almost impossible) to remove without a thorough cleaning (leading to further problems if you scratch the silicone deeply. We have other recipes that have worked great.
