As soon as I put them on I couldn't help but be disappointed with the sound and noise cancellation. I could still hear my fan hum and the bass was nil compared to my ATH-50x. I couldn't believe at first that these headphones cost $500 and had a high rating, but I used them extensively for a week before I got my money back and I'm very glad I did. - SOUND QUALITY - The staging of these headphones has to be the best I've heard (listening to Daft Punk's Contact made me feel like I was on another planet). The mids and highs are particularly well balanced, although it took my bass ears some time to adjust to punchy, controlled lows. These headphones sound great in most music genres, but especially in classical and acoustic music. Overall great experience 5 out of 5. - NOISE REDUCTION. I have to preface that the noise cancellation they have is definitely not "best in class", it's easy to beat the qc-35ii and ABSOLUTELY beat the qc-700. So if that's all you're looking for, then look elsewhere. For them, noise-cancelling is more about taking your mind off the outside world and helping you get into your music bubble a little more. To be honest, I thought the noise canceling on my pair was broken when I first got them. I could still hear conversations around me, my fan running about three feet away, and a moving car, although it completely blocked the sound of my air conditioning. I would rate this pair's noise cancellation a 2/5. Not great, but better than nothing while not degrading the quality of the music - BUILD QUALITY - Excellent. Fiction. Firmly. Lambskin combined with aluminum with minimal plastic is unmatched in my opinion. 5/5.-BATTERY LIFE. The specified battery life is 24 hours. I had very high expectations. With heavy use (2-4 hours a day) I didn't need to charge a few times most of the week. I have no doubt that these headphones can deliver the advertised 24 hour battery life if you want to extend it. - CONCLUSION - Although the noise canceling in these headphones was not what I expected, I really like them. The sound and build quality are absolutely first class. would recommend.
