This is one of the few Ethernet adapters that gets its power from the AC adapter. Unfortunately, an external power supply is always required. It's not mandatory. So this ultra-portable wired internet for my Samsung S8 is not portable at all. It will not work without connecting an external power supply. I wanted to be able to connect an external power adapter in case I need to use it for a long period of time. To make matters worse, there's no external power returning to the phone via USB. C, so I won't be able to use it for long anyway. If they fixed it it would be a great product.
