Review on KEEN Howser Quilted Waterproof Capulet Boys' Shoes in Boots by John Faxon

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great casual fall/winter shoe for my 8 year old.

We live in Seattle where it rains all fall/winter. These shoes are waterproof and provide warmth, yet are light enough for everyday use/school. My son walked straight into a puddle a few inches high and his feet were dry. We also went hiking with them. Easy to put on and take off. However, my son still has problems with fine motor skills and manual strength. He struggles to squeeze the small spring mechanism hard enough to move it in and out to secure the boot. It's a shame because one of the reasons I chose these boots is the bungee mechanism as it doesn't have the ability to tie laces yet. His occupational therapist will help him with this particular shoe. I also like these shoes because they have a wide toe box. We ended up getting a size bigger than I thought we would need without knowing if his feet had grown or if it was size related. In any case, try it out!

Pros
  • Light shoe for our 4 year old. Unfortunately, the feet are damp after a short time in the forest kindergarten.
Cons
  • Expensive price for children's shoes
