I've been looking for so long what kind of die cutter to buy, even asking friends who own other brands and concluded that this is the die cutter for me. That's why. hope this helps others who are searching.1. The smaller size allows me to skip materials with fewer twists of the handle.2. The handle is designed to reduce the number of turns required to skip material.3. I've found that I do better when processing multiple stamps at once (if they're flimsy, shapelets, etc.) and while I was concerned the 6 inch base would be too small, it holds all the stamps I want to use . for that color and then another. 4. Side gusset makes storage easier. It also makes it easier to transport. Sometimes I want to tinker in my studio and sometimes in front of the TV, so it's very easy to pick it up (via the handle) and place it where I want it. 5. The Spellbinder brand is of very high quality so I know it will probably last me forever.6 The die comes with everything you need to get started, just buy the dies you want to use to die cut. There is a guide on how to install the plates and the base plate even has assembly instructions on how to make a plate sandwich for whatever you want to cut. I'm a total newbie at this stuff and didn't know what the plate sandwich people were talking about and this guide took me from beginner to expert in minutes.8. Heavy is good! This will help hold it in place while the dies are being moved. So it doesn't slide on the table. Yes, I can't say enough good things about this little slicer. I have a Silhouette Curio and a Silhouette Cameo (which I LOVE!) but nothing cuts quite like this machine. It's a workhorse and easy to work with. This is my new favorite instrument in the studio. Highly recommended!
