This thing worked great. Before I got this, I couldn't even see halfway through my tank from the side looking in. Left this light on in my filter box for about 2 hours and then turned it off before bed. when I got up he was CLEAN as always. I can look sideways over the tank and now watch TV from the other side. Almost everything you buy today has some sort of do's and don'ts sheet of crap that's more or less a joke that nobody reads and nobody follows. THIS IS A HUGE MISTAKE with this light! After I placed my filter in the filter and while it was on, I opened the lid to cover the vents. It took less than 2 minutes and the light was a good 6 inches underwater. That night, after about 5 hours, I couldn't even open my eyes. I felt like I had sand in my eyes and any light of any kind felt like my eyes would burn, even with my eyes closed and a wet rag on them. After about 14 hours I can open my eyes again, but I still have the feeling of having sand in them and the bright light still bothers me. DO NOT LOOK AT THIS LIGHT AT ANY TIME WHEN IT IS ON and make sure no one else or your fish sees the light it is emitting for any length of time. Don't be stupid like me!
