I have one in the shower and bought one for my girlfriend to use in the garden. Never had a problem with it. The range might be a bit different than other Bluetooth speakers, but that's not a bad thing at all. As for the bathroom, I leave my phone on the dining table across from the bathroom and on the other side of the plastered wall. It can be 20 feet away and I've never had a problem with audio dropouts. The only real complaint is that the buttons to fast forward and rewind tracks are also volume buttons (quick press to skip tracks, long press to change volume) and more. when I once skipped a track while trying to change the volume. It's annoying. There's also no hands-free option here, so you're out of luck if you get a call if you're not near a phone.
